Currently, across the globe, security guards are being valued more than before. This is simply because of our heightened awareness regarding safety and security. During the pandemic, we enormously realized the significance of security guards. They were needed to protect important places and enforce government protocols to the public. Their contribution towards society was immense. And now, even when the pandemic is over, the demand for security guards has not dropped even a bit but rather increased tremendously. So, if you have the minimum qualification and want to have secure employment, then opting for a security guard job is the best option for you.
Now, the fact is, as per the California government, to get employed as a security guard one needs to have BSIS certification and must be 18 or 18+. So, if your age is 18 + then enrol your name in the most prominent online guard card training provider – Access Control Security (ACS).

The complete training session is of 40 hours but the basic training is of 8 hours which includes:
- a) Power to Arrest (4 hours) – In this course, the candidates are provided in-depth knowledge of the key responsibilities of security guards and the legal aspects. During the training “The Department of Consumer Affairs’ Power to Arrest Training Manual “will be used as a reference guide that will include several lectures, discussions, exercises, and role-playing.
- b) Weapons of Mass Destruction (4 hours) — In this course, the candidates are provided in-depth knowledge regarding the techniques for detecting, inspecting and reporting precursor activities of terrorist events. This training will be presented based on “The Department of Consumer Affairs’ Weapons of Mass Destruction & Terrorism Awareness for Security Professionals course” which will consist of a Digital Video Disk (DVD), Student Workbook and Facilitator Manual.
After this training, the FBI will conduct your background check. Once the record comes clean, you will be provided with an interim guard license so that you can apply for a security guard job. But note that, you won’t be able to work as a full-time security guard with the interim guard license. You need to finish another 32 hours of training to get employed as a full-time security guard.
