How To Get Your BSIS Security Guard Card
Sign Up For ACS Guard Card Classes
Before obtaining a California Guard Card, you must first complete eight hours of Bureau of Security, Investigative Services (BSIS) courses. Access Control Security provides the required BSIS courses online. They are divided into two separate four-hour programs:
- Powers to Arrest
- Weapons of Mass Destruction
Once completed successfully, you can download your BSIS certificate of completion for each course.
Livescan Fingerprinting
Guard candidates must be fingerprinted. The easiest way is through Livescan. Download the Livescan form, fill it out and take it to the closest Livescan facility.
Guard Application Submission
Once fingerprinted, you are now ready to apply to become a registered BSIS security guard. For information on how to apply online or by mail, go to the BSIS security guard website. After receiving your application, the Department of Justice and the FBI will conduct a criminal history background check. It will take between four to six weeks to process your application. Your name will appear on the BSIS website and you will receive your guard card about three weeks after BSIS issues you your registration.
