For receiving authentic guard card training choose a prominent security guard training provider
You cannot refute that security companies are budding like mushrooms. If you dive into the statistics, you would know that the demand for professional security guards is growing exponentially every year. In fact, especially after the onset of pandemic, be it banks, government offices, business firms, hospitals, almost every industry has become extremely conscious about safety and security. This has further fueled the need for professional and well-trained security guards in the nation.
It is estimated that in the coming year more than 32,000 BSIS certified guards will be required to safeguard important places in California. So, if you wish to build your career in the security industry, this is the right time to enroll your name for the guard card training.
But, as per California Government policy, you can only enroll your name for security guards training if you are of 18 years of age or above with no criminal records. So, if you meet the basic criterion then you can proceed with the training. The basic training sessions consist of:
- a) Power to Arrest (4 hours) – This training helps you to have detailed knowledge about your job responsibility and legal aspects. “The Department of Consumer Affairs’ Power to Arrest Training Manual” is used as a reference for providing thorough training which includes discussions, exercises, lectures, and role-playing.
- b) Weapons of Mass Destruction (4 hours) – This session is about the techniques related to inspecting, identifying and reporting precursor activities of terrorist events “The Department of Consumer Affairs’ Weapons of Mass Destruction & Terrorism Awareness for Security Professionals course” is implemented while imparting this training which consists of Student Workbook, Digital Video Disk (DVD) and Facilitator Manual.
Once the above training is completed, your fingerprints will be submitted to the California Department of Justice and your background verification will be done by the FBI. And if the report comes clean you will receive the interim guard card license. But, note that an interim guard card license is not valid for applying for a full-time private security guard job i.e you can work as a part-time security guard.
But, if you wish to work as a full-time professional security guard, another 32 hours of training should be completed by you. The first 16 hours of training should be finished by you within 30 days of getting your guard card license and another 16 hours of training should be completed within 6 months of getting guard card approval. So, the total requirement is 40 hours of training.
