• Understand the implications of an arrest relating the subject, the guard and the company.
• Understand escalation and de-escalation techniques in the use of force.
• Understand the use of restraint techniques and their implications.
• Understand trespass laws and the implications of enforcement.
• Complete the Power to Arrest Test with a 100% score in accordance with the Manual’s Administering Instructions.

Lesson 2, Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism Awareness

Objectives:

• Understand the role of a Security Officer in preventing an incident
• Understand the nature of terrorism.
• Understand weapons of mass destruction.
• Be able to coordinate critical information.

Complete the Weapons of Mass Destruction and Terrorism Awareness Test with a 100% score in accordance with the Manual’s Administering Instructions.

32-Hours Online Training is comprised of two (2) Modules

 Module A:

The 32-hours Training 1^st Part.

This part is a 16-hour program. This section familiarizes and instructs the student on the training topics delineated by Business and Professions Code section 7583.7, legal aspects, techniques, liability, and company requirements relating to the arrest of an individual.

This section must be completed within 30-days after the Guard Card is issues or the guard begins employment.

 

Part 2 is comprised of four (4) modules:

 

Lesson 1, Public Relations (Community & Customer)

Objectives:

• Recognize and avoid gender and racial harassment
• Recognize and avoid discrimination
• Understand and develop respect of others
• Apply appropriate verbal skills and crisis intervention
• Understand diversity
• Understand the implications of substance abuse and how they apply to workplace security
• Understand the code of ethics and proper code of conduct
• Present a professional appearance and presence
• Complete the Public Relations Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.

Lesson 2, Observation and Documentation

Objectives:

• Write an effective report
• Take descriptive and useful field notes
• Properly employ all senses in observation
• Conduct an efficient and productive patrol
• Conduct a thorough area search
• Conduct an appropriate interview
• Complete the Observation and Documentation Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.

Lesson 3, Advanced Arrest, Search & Seizure

Objectives:

• Understand the laws of arrest as they apply to private citizens
• Understand the appropriate use of force
• Understand the differences between detention and arrest
• Understand and define false imprisonment
• Understand and conduct appropriate searches and apply Merchant Privilege
• Understand and define seizure as it applies to private citizens
• Complete the Advanced Arrest, Search & Seizure Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.

Lesson 4, Trespass

Objectives:

• Understand the differences between civil and criminal trespass.
• Understand the Penal Codes regarding trespass.
• Understand the use of force in defense of property.
• Define Conversion, Trespass to Chattel, Trespass to Land, and Loitering.
• Complete the Trespass Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.

Module B:

The 32-hours Online Training 2nd Part

This is the 2^nd part of 32-hour training: 16-hour program. This section familiarizes and instructs the student in basic skills and provides a common body of knowledge in the performance of security guard work delineated by Business and Professions Code Section 7583.6 (b).

This section must be completed within six (6)-months from the day the guard’s registration card is issued or the day the guard begins employment.

 

This part is comprised of five (5) modules:

 

Lesson 1, Communication and its Significance

Objectives:

• Understand the importance of effective internal and external communication
• Understand the importance of reading and understanding Post Orders
• Recognize the need for confidentiality of protocols and contact information
• Know the basic information to collect in an emergency
• Be able to make a direct and efficient call for assistance
• Understand the common types of communication systems
• Be able to effectively use common communication systems
• Complete the Communication and its Significance Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.

Lesson 2, Liability/Legal Aspects

Objectives:

• Understand the difference between the court proceedings and the burden of proof for criminal and civil courts
• Understand the penalties for criminal prosecution and civil litigation

• Understand the liability of the client
• Understand the criminal, civil and administrative process
• Know and understand the BSIS Code and Regulations
• Understand the role of the security guard
• Complete the Liability/Legal Aspects Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.

Lesson 3, Handling Difficult People

Objectives:

• Discuss the Theoretical Models of Assault
• Understand how the working environment can affect behavior.
• Configure a safe working environment
• Complete the Handling Difficult People Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.

• Understand defensive spray decontamination procedures
• Understand the principles of proper deployment of hand-held defensive sprays
• Understand the limitations of hand-held defensive sprays
• Understand the proper maintenance, storage and disposal of hand-held defensive sprays
• Complete the Chemical Agents Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.

Lesson 5, Preserving the Incident Scene

• Complete the Preserving the Incident Scene Final Exam with a 100% score in accordance with regulations.
